Berchtesgaden, GermanyMy flight arrived early in the morning to Munich. I collected my rental car and proceeded to Erding and picked up a few groceries. The two-lane roads carved through fertile corn fields which were being harvested. Tractors accompanied cars on the streets of most of the small towns I passed through. My first stop was Wasserburg. In this moment, the sun broke through the fog and it was sublime. I enjoyed a coffee and wandered the streets for an hour or so before proceeding towards Berchtesgaden and my guest house.
As sunset approached, I went to the shores of Hintersee hoping for some moody light. It was a pretty lake, and the brooding clouds did make for some drama. I had the shoreline to myself and parking wasn't an issue as I spent some time with one of the local mallards.
The next morning, I chose to spend dawn at Maria Gern, not far from my guest house. It was a lovely setting, and being my first morning in the Bavarian Alps it was a core memory to listen to the cow bells as the sun began to light the valley.
On my way back to the guesthouse I made a small side-trip to Berchtesgaden to capture a nice angle of the city.
